How does a dental bridge work?
A dental bridge works by filling in the space left by missing teeth with one or more artificial teeth, known as pontics, anchored in place by dental crowns on the adjacent teeth. These crowns, known as abutments, are cemented onto the natural teeth or dental implants on either side of the gap, securely holding the pontics in place. The bridge is custom-made to match your natural teeth’ shape, size, and colour, ensuring a seamless and natural-looking result. By filling in the gap, a dental bridge helps maintain the proper alignment of your remaining teeth, preventing them from shifting out of place and causing bite problems or further oral health issues. Additionally, a dental bridge restores the function of your bite, allowing you to chew and speak more effectively while improving your smile’s appearance.
