What are dental crowns used for?
Dental crowns are used for a variety of restorative and cosmetic purposes. One of the primary uses of a dental crown is to protect and strengthen a tooth weakened by decay, a large filling, or a root canal treatment. Crowns also restore a broken or severely worn-down tooth, providing structural support and improving its appearance. In addition to therapeutic functions, crowns can be used for cosmetic purposes, such as covering misshapen or severely discoloured teeth and improving the overall appearance of your smile. Crowns are also placed over dental implants to replace missing teeth, and they can be used to anchor dental bridges, which fill gaps left by missing teeth. Made from materials like porcelain, metal, or a combination of both, crowns are custom-made to fit securely over the affected tooth, restoring its size, shape, strength, and appearance.
