Meet Dr. Sarfraz Afzal, D.M.D, BSc. (a.k.a 'Dr. A')

Dr. Sarfraz Afzal, D.M.D, BSc., or Dr. A, is a skilled and compassionate dentist who has been practicing for over 15 years. As the primary and senior dentist at Century Crossing Dental Centre in Spruce Grove, Alberta, he has advanced training in laser dentistry, head and neck pain, infant frenectomies, Invisalign, and sleep dentistry solutions. Dr. Afzal’s patient-centered approach ensures that every individual receives personalized care, whether it’s a routine check-up or a specialized procedure.

Dr. Afzal holds a BSc. in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Alberta. After earning his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Saskatchewan, Dr. Afzal gained extensive experience in various dental practices before establishing himself in Spruce Grove. He is one of the few dentists in Canada who holds a LA&HA Masters in Laser Dentistry and is proficient in photobiomodulation treatments, laser dentistry for sleep apnea and snoring, and myofunctional therapy. In his quest for knowledge, he also completed the Oxford Executive Leadership Programme from the Said School of Business at the University of Oxford.

He is known to have a calming demeanor and has developed unique techniques over the years to make dentistry as pain-free and comfortable as possible. He is a dedicated member of several professional organizations and is committed to providing the highest quality care using the latest dental technologies.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Afzal is an avid mixed martial artist, holding a black belt in Taekwon Do, with a keen interest in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He loves humor, classic comedy, and is a die hard Oilers & Elks fan. He is very passionate about his community and volunteers regularly with at-risk youth. He currently lives with his wife, children, and cats in Spruce Grove.

I came to Century Crossing Dental after a friend recommended it. I had not been to the dentist in an embarrassing amount of time due to some trauma that happened at another one. Dr. A and his staff did not make me feel ashamed about that like I had been treated before and welcomed me with open arms. I have an extensive amount of work that needs to be done now and they have been nothing but accommodating especially to my busy schedule with a new baby. They are conscious that I may need to stop and nurse him, and give me the time to do that. My other 2 kids now see Dr. A and they had the best experience there with him and his staff. There are tvs on the ceiling, Nintendo switch in the waiting room for the kids, and they give you little stress balls while you’re in the chair. I can’t say enough good things about them all. I highly recommend Century Crossing Dental Centre. I’ve been coming here for nearly 10 years and have always received excellent care from Dr. A and the hygienists. They helped me get my dental care on track after long periods of no dental coverage. They offer a very comfortable environment for dental care and clearly invest a lot of money into keeping up to date with new technologies

After 20 years of avoiding dental offices had a dental emergency the week before Christmas. I live an hour out of Spruce Grove and knew I needed a Dentist. The only Dental Office to call me back with a message "Yes, we can fit you in" was Century Crossing. There was no judgement just an overwhelming sense that I was going to be taken care of. I was given antibiotics and an appointment was made for an extraction. After years of fearing Dentists I went in had the extraction done and am now looking at follow up appointments and further treatment. Not only will I be back but will be bringing my son and grandson in for dental care. Thank so much to the team and Dr. Afzal for giving me the courage to enter a dental clinic once again.

I've been going to this clinic for a couple of years now. I drive 30-40 mins from Edmonton because the staff here are courteous and personable, The Doc has great bedside manners and the work they do is A1. Front office staff 5/5, Docs 5/5, Hygienist 5/5, Tammy 10/5.

By far the best dentist I've ever had. After not seeing a dentist for a number of years due to anxiety I accumulated a number of cavities and even had to get a root canal. I can say without a word of a lie my experience with Century Crossing has been completely pain free. From the needle for freezing, to the drilling and filling, I have never felt any pain. All the staff is friendly and comforting. I recommend them %100.
